GE Hydran M2 is a continuous online monitoring device for dissolved composite gases (hydrogen, carbon monoxide, ethylene, acetylene, and water in oil), which can alert workers of faults in transformers. It provides critical monitoring information to minimize the risk of unexpected power outages.
The GE Hydran M2 enhanced transformer is mainly used for comprehensive monitoring and protection of transformers. It has a wide range of applications, including transformer monitoring, fault diagnosis, gas analysis in oil, temperature monitoring, humidity monitoring, and remote monitoring. By monitoring key parameters of transformers, such as abnormal temperature rise, humidity, sediment and gas anomalies, potential problems can be detected early. It can also provide status information inside the transformer by monitoring the gas content in the oil, such as gases generated by partial discharge, arc, and other faults. At the same time, it can monitor the temperature inside and outside the transformer, as well as the humidity of the oil immersed transformer, to help evaluate the thermal stability and insulation performance of the equipment.
In addition, the GE Hydran M2 has a compact appearance, no moving parts, and low maintenance costs. Support asset performance management software analysis to achieve fleet level deployment. It is compatible with various transformer oils, including standard mineral insulating oils and newer natural and synthetic ester based liquids. In addition to DGA monitoring, other parameters such as top oil temperature and load current can also be monitored by connecting sensors, and the transformer condition can be further understood by using IEEE based mathematical models. This device has multiple communication options and protocols, simplifying integration with SCADA or DCS systems. It has a year long record of data and major events, as well as user-friendly client/server graphical user interface software. Widely used in medium to large transformers and transmission transformers, reducing the risk and consequences of failure is a significant advancement in manual oil sampling.
