Product Description

Bently Nevada Orbit 60R/PIM Power Input Module

The Bently Nevada Orbit 60R/PIM power input module occupies a special-purposed slot located in the Orbit 60 chassis. Every chassis must be powered through at least one 60R/PIM and each chassis requires its own 60R/PIM and power sources. The 60R/PIM is a half-height module that connects an external power source to the system. Each Orbit 60 Series chassis supports two stacked redundant power input modules. When both power inputs are utilized, failure of one power source does not affect the operation of the system.

The 60R/PIM supports input voltages ranging from 21-32Vdc. The most common power source comes from external DIN rail mounted AC/DC 24Vdc output power supplies.

You can remove and insert a single Power Input Module without disrupting system operation as long as another 60R/PIM remains installed and connected to its input power source.

The PIM employs out-of-range protection for mis-wiring, over voltage, and over current protection for the input power sources.

The Bently Nevada Orbit 60R/PIM Power Input Module is a vital component within the Orbit 60 machinery protection and condition monitoring system16.

General Introduction

The 60R/PIM is designed to connect an external power source to the Orbit 60 system, serving as the bridge that ensures a stable power supply for the entire system's operation16.

Technical Features

  • Input Voltage Range1:It supports input voltages ranging from 21 - 32 VDC, offering flexibility in power supply options. The most common power source is from external DIN rail mounted AC/DC 24V DC output power supplies.
  • Module Size and Configuration1:It is a half - height module, which helps save space in the Orbit 60 chassis. There are 3U and 6U specific configurations available to meet different system requirements.
  • Redundancy Support1:Each Orbit 60 series chassis can support two stacked redundant power input modules. When both power inputs are in use, the failure of one power source won't affect the system's operation, enhancing the reliability and stability of the system.
  • Protection Functions1:The PIM is equipped with out - of - range protection for mis - wiring, as well as overvoltage and overcurrent protection for the input power sources, safeguarding the system from potential electrical faults.
  • Hot Swap Capability1:It allows for the removal and insertion of a single power input module without disrupting system operation, provided that another 60R/PIM remains installed and connected to its input power source, facilitating convenient maintenance and upgrades.

Role in the System

The 60R/PIM occupies a special - purposed slot in the Orbit 60 chassis1. Every chassis must be powered through at least one 60R/PIM, and each chassis requires its own 60R/PIM and power sources to function properly1. It ensures that all the modules in the Orbit 60 system receive the necessary power, enabling them to carry out their respective monitoring and protection functions seamlessly.

Applications

The Bently Nevada Orbit 60R/PIM Power Input Module is widely used in various industrial scenarios where the Orbit 60 system is deployed. In the power generation industry, it powers the Orbit 60 system used to monitor turbines and generators. In the oil and gas sector, it provides the power for monitoring equipment such as pumps and compressors. In chemical plants, it plays a crucial role in powering the Orbit 60 system that monitors reactors and other key equipment, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of the production process.

In conclusion, the Bently Nevada Orbit 60R/PIM Power Input Module is an essential part of the Orbit 60 system, offering reliable power input and protection functions, and playing a key role in ensuring the normal operation of industrial machinery monitoring systems.
