Product Description

Product Description

The GE DOS DUP Processor Board DS200DMCBG1ALG contains three 26-pin connectors, one 40-pin connector, and 19 jumpers. The board also has 2 LEDs. Some of the connectors that populate the GE DOS DUP Processor Board DS200DMCBG1ALG connect to a ribbon cable which is made up of multiple fine wires that carry control signals. The control signals are transmitted to the board from other components or boards in the drive. Other control signals are received by the board through the ribbon cable.

The wires that make up the ribbon cable are easily disconnected from the connector and so it is necessary to never pull the connector out of the board. Instead, grasp the connector portion of the ribbon cable, steady the board with one hand, and gently remove the ribbon cable. This avoids putting stress on the ribbon cable which might pull some of the fine wires out of the connector.

The board is populated with several connectors so the old board could have many cables connected to it. To reduce the downtime for the drive caused by a lengthy replacement procedure, you can note where all cables are connected on the old board. All connectors have an identifier printed on the board. Write it down and attach the note to the cable.

Another way to reduce downtime for the drive when service is performed is to note how the jumpers are positioned on the old board and identify the jumpers by the identifier printed on the board. The quick and error free method is to set the jumpers in exactly the same positions on the new board.
