The block diagram of the programmable controller is the same as that of the computer, which is composed of the central processing unit (CPU), memory and input/output interface. Therefore, in terms of hardware structure, a PLC is actually a computer, and Figure 1 is a simplified block diagram of its hardware system. It can be seen from the figure that the main internal components of PLC are:
(1) Central Process Unit (CPU)
CPU is the core component of PLC, and the CPU of the general microcomputer, it is similar to the role of the PLC system in the human body's nerve center, so called "computer". Its functions are:
A, according to the function of PLC system program gives in, receive and store the user program and data from programmer input.
b. Receive the status data of the field input device by scanning and store it in the image register or data register.
c. Diagnose the working state of power supply and PLC internal circuit and grammar errors in programming process.
d. After the PLC enters the running state, read the user program one by one from the memory, and generate the corresponding signal to open and close the relevant control gate circuit according to the tasks specified in the instruction after command interpretation. To perform data access, transmission, combination, comparison and transformation and other operations, complete the user program specified in the logical arithmetic operations and other tasks. According to the calculation results, the state of the flag bit and the content of the output image register are updated, and then the content of the output image register of the bit state data register is realized, such as output control, tabulation and print data communication.
PLC commonly used CPU mainly adopts general purpose microprocessor, single chip microcomputer or bipolar bit chip microprocessor. General purpose microprocessors are commonly used 8-bit and 16-bit machines, such as Z80A, 8085, 8086, 6502, M6800, M6809, M68000 and so on. SCM commonly used 8039, 8049, 8031, 8051 and so on. Bipolar bit chip microprocessor commonly used are AMD2900, AMD2903 and so on.
