The board ships to your site in a shipping box and there are several steps you must take when the box first arrives. Inspect the box for signs that the box experienced excessive damage during shipment. Look for dents and torn sections of the box that might expose the board.  Also the box is sealed at the factory and the seal should not be damaged or broken. This protects the board from tampering and reduces the threat of damage to components.

Inspect the shipping label on the box and make sure it indicates that the board is the model you ordered. The label also has the serial number and other indicators that identify the board. Best practice is to put the box aside in a safe and dry location until you are ready to install the board. Also limit the access other individual have to the box, if they do not have a need to handle the board. This protects the board from static and also from mishandling. Anyone who handles the board must understand that the board must be held only by the edges.
