I. Overview

Today, Rockwell Automation is a world-renowned supplier of power, control and information system solutions for industrial automation. Its integrated architecture products and solutions have been successfully applied and widely recognized in various industries such as metallurgy, electric power, water treatment, dairy beverage, tobacco, cement, petrochemical, mining and automotive manufacturing. The control system, software and frequency converter have been applied in many metallurgical processes. The two 80t steel converter, LF refining furnace, two continuous casting machines and auxiliary bag filter and other process facilities of Xuanxang steelmaking workshop are all controlled by the ControlLogix system, the project was put into production on May 18, 2002. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first application of the ControlLogix system in the domestic steelmaking converter.

In recent years, with the improvement of the degree of automation of steelmaking converter, with the improvement of production safety and reliability requirements, with the improvement of the whole plant scheduling management network automation, advanced and open control system has been more and more widely used in the production.

The measurement and control system of the newly built steelmaking workshop of Xuangang started the bidding of the system and brand after the preliminary scheme design was finalized. In the four famous control system manufacturers: ABB, Siemens, Schneider, Rockwell Automation to participate in the fierce unexpectedly targeted circumstances, Rockwell Automation ControlLogix with its advanced configuration, good performance and price to stand out, won the unanimous favor of the expert judges, the final bid.

Ii. Introduction to the system

2.1. Control system configuration

Converter control system configuration: each converter body, loose feeding, waste heat boiler, flue gas purification each use 1 PLC and 1 operating station, converter body common part, blower room, gas recovery and distribution each use 1 PLC and 1 operating station. The 1# and 2# converters are each equipped with 1 server. The configuration of the converter control system is shown in < Figure 1 >.

The connection network of the control system has four layers: 1. DeviceNet/ProfiBUS; 2. 2. Control network (redundant ControlNet); 3. Factory management network (EtherNet/IP); 4. ControlLogix technology used in the process control of Xuanxang converter has the following characteristics:

1. Controller: The maximum addressing capacity of each Logix5555 controller is 128000 DI/O, 4000 AI/O and loop. The ControlLogix platform provides high-speed data transmission through the backplane. Each controller can generate (broadcast) and use (receive) system labels. This technique allows multiple controllers to share input information and output state, which is very practical. Optional user memory (1.5Mb).

2. 1756 series intelligent I/O modules: There are various types of I/O modules, which can be detachable terminals, and have functions such as live plug and plug, COS, self-diagnosis, time marking, module identification, flash upgrade, electronic insurance, and separate isolation. The rate at which the module broadcasts data can be set. 1756-HSC high speed counting module (4 channels) can update data every 2ms, high efficiency.

3. Network Settings: Network stratification, clear division of labor, security and reliability. 2.3. Main function and effect of control system

The control system can complete the functions of online detection, data processing and calculation, display, storage, management, control output, report printing, record operation process and other production parameters of 1#/2# converter body, loose feeding, vaporization cooling, gas purification and common parts, gas blower room, gas recovery, transmission and distribution technology. When the program is fully automatic, the equipment is controlled by the computer. The operator can modify the set value and directly control the operation of the equipment through man-machine dialogue.

Automatic control such as converter top blowing oxygen gun and medium control, converter low blowing digital analog control, converter loose feeding control, second throat opening adjustment, drum level adjustment and so on are all difficult to control in any converter workshop. However, the control system of Xuangang converter, with unique program processing, can control these process objects very well. Among them, the gas pressure or flow rate of the top/bottom of the converter can be controlled within 3% of the set value, and the differential pressure of the converter throat can be controlled within 6Pa. Compared with the sibling units, these data are in a leading position.

3. Application promotion

The advanced control system is the symbol of a modern factory, which has far-reaching social and economic benefits for the enterprise. The ControlLogix system has been successfully used in Xuanchang converter and the whole steelmaking workshop, both in production control and factory level production scheduling management, has reached an unprecedented level. It saves energy, reduces costs, reduces operators, improves the safety of production, and improves the qualified rate and productivity of products. The steelmaking plant was put into operation on May 18, 2002 and reached production within a week. Half a year of production time, so that Xuanxang set an unprecedented historical output and economic benefits. After communicating with Party A's leaders, it is estimated that the benefits brought by the good use of the control system will be increased by at least RMB 2 million (RMB) per month.
