Product Description
The GE Genius Adapter Board DS200ADPAG1A features one 40-pin connector and one 26-pin connector. It also has one 3-pin connector and one 10-pin connector. The cables that connect to the 40-pin connector and the 26-pin connector are held in place with retention latches that are built into the connectors. However, the latches require some special considerations before you use them during the procedure to replace the board.
The retention latches must be fully engaged to keep the cables from disconnecting from the connectors on the board. To use the retention latches, use your fingers to slip the latches away from the cable. Then, grasp the cable at the connector end and gently remove it from the board. To install a cable first move the latches out of the way before you insert the cable into the connector.
Before you replace the board, you have to have a wrist strap on to protect the drive and the board from static electricity. One end of the strap wraps around your wrist while to other ends must be attached to a metal object that is free of paint. This could be a metal leg of a workbench or a chair leg, or a metal column. The metal provides a place for the static to leave your body or the board to find ground. Some wrist straps are equipped with a clip to attach to the metal surface while others have a plug that connects directly to a workbench. Without the attachment to a metal surface, the wrist strap is ineffective in draining the static.
